Worlds fastest super computer released by china Tianhe - 2
China's latest supercomputer Tianhe-2 measured a speed of 30.65 petaflops (1 Petaflop = 1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes). It is said that the theoretical maximum speed that can be attained is 49.19 petaflops. So this makes it attain 62.3 percent to the theoretical value. It is said that the machine can do better as the machine was not working at it's maximum when this was measured.

The stats come from a five-hour Linpack test using 14,336 nodes and 50 GB of memory of each node. (The Linpack benchmark is a measure of a computer's floating-point rate of execution. It is determined by running a computer program that solves a system of linear equations.) The numbers were revealed by University of Tennessee professor Jack Dongarra, who introduced the Linpack benchmarks, and who helps compile the biannual Top500 list of the world's most powerful supercomputers.

Tianhe is using Kylin Linux(OS developed in china). Kylin is compatible with other operating systems and supports multiple microprocessors.

Tianhe -1 was once the fastest computer back in 2010. But the first Computer to reach the range of petaflops is IBM's Roadrunner.

Titan, U.S Department of Energy's fastest Supercomputer, has been clocked at just 17.6 petaflops per second. So Tianhe is 74 percent faster than the current holder of the World's fastest supercomputer title.

Some reports say that china is aiming at much faster super computer by 2015. Let's see how far they can reach.
